The basic definition of a Portable App is one that does not require any
registry keys or external support files.  As long as the apps you question
are following that definition, you can run them from anywhere and expect the
same functionality.  That means they'll run equally well from the main hard
drive, a secondary internal drive, an external drive, a USB stick, a CD or
DVD, etc.

If you try an app and it fails for some reason, it's not a true portable.
