Cristy, As a teacher, I absolutely LOVE unique approaches that work for others. Many famous styles were created by someone trying to make their guitar sound like something they heard, only to later find out there was a simple trick to getting that particular sound. One example I use in trying to teach that idea is someone trying to imitate the sound of a glass slide solo without using any kind of slide. Another would be someone trying to imitate a lap steel guitar on a regular 6-string. Neat things happen when you push the boundaries (or just completely ignore them). :O) Wrong technique??? Bah! There's NO such thing as long as you still get your musical point across! lol Peace, GMan The only dumb questions are the ones we fail to ask. ----- Original Message ----- From: "cristy" <poppy0206@xxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, January 27, 2008 9:14 AM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: OT- learning guitar- hey GMan >I guess your right there Gman, also my true talent was in singing moreso > than just the guitar playing and I can truely say, "bless his heart" this > was not my brother's talent ;), although he did a "good" Arlo Guthrie and > Bob Dylan interpretation.
