I would not care about the licenses...I would love to have the laptop..AND the value would include NOT having that software..as it is for educational purposes.... That is my humble opinion..... And I am still interested! lol! I suspect that the office suite wouldn't work after college. I wasn't sure about the operating system. I talked to a guy today. He said, in the past they were on lease, and were turned back in. This past year, they opened it to staff to purchase them, and the students can buy their old one rather than turn it in - for the value at that time - whatever that is. They are talking about making them available to the community. He's going to get me more information, and see if I could buy one. If not, I'll wait 2 years and buy my daughter's old one. Last years had a 40 gb hard drive, 512 ram, Centrino processor - xpPro - So - how do you find out the fair market value of a 2 year old laptop? I figure, when she gets hers, I can look it up to figure out what it would have cost for us to purchase it. The school may be more inclined to sell to students Also there may be a thing with the programs on the puter that they are licensed to students ONLY. I can pick up (for instance) XP PRO at school for $10, BUT it is licensed for student use and only while one is a student. If one stops being a student, by the URLA, the person can no longer use that XP PRO. Suggest you have your daughter check out the license agreement for the software on the puter with the school.
