I am wondering if it has anything to do with SP2...I did install THAT but
everything was working fine until the latest Norton update...I even deleted
and reinstalled but it just won't clear the mail..keeps disconnecting..I
can't get mail that way..so I deleted Norton again...too much pain.

Wonder if anyone else is having this--I downloaded the latest Norton and
update and instantly I get cutoffs during downloads with OE and refusal to
send multipule mails..I get cut off..and a popup notice from Norton that OE
shut down--reload OE and resend..????????Anyone else got this?

No, but I frequently get a dialog box saying OE has malfunctioned and needs
to close. After allowing the report to be sent to M$, I click on the info
button and get told the problem is caused by Norton's Anti-virus and there
is no known fix.

Also, one time my email server failed at the beginning of the upload and the
NAV proxy dumped all the messages and told me if I still wanted to send them
to go to the SENT items and folder and resend them... a real pain since
there was over 60 messages and OE does not have a RE-send button. Needless
to say I only scan inbound mail now.

Check your Norton configuration... depending on the software package you are
using there may be an option to protect against disconnects. Not sure where
it is, but I have it activated, though with an always on internet
connection it probably doesn't do anything.

In the past I have heartily recommended www.Unlimited-mail.com as an
excellent paid email service with superior customer support. Unfortunately,
I can no longer do that. Apparently they have grown too large to continue
providing customer service like they used to. E-mails to their support
department have gone unanswered for weeks at a time. Also, the email server
suffers from frequent problems that last as little as a few minutes to as
much as several days. I would strongly encourage everyone to consider
alternative email services... especially the new Google mail which is
rolling out free POP/SMTP access for their members.
