I know in the UK, Hewlett Packard have a reconditioned PC shop on eBay.  A 
friend and I both got laptops from there about a year ago and they were 
pretty competitive.  Maybe worth keeping an eye out there.

Try the different sellers...Dell, Sony, etc..for Refurbished.. CompUSA......

You get a limited warranty typically and can buy a warranty during the time
the orig warranty is good!
