I did contact HP about this --the last e-mail came back as saying the file
for correct software & driver was too large to send. Gave me a URL that took
me right back to the same " it's IN XP already" thing. I asked for
instructions to delete ALL of HP..and the only ways I was offered were ways
I couldn't complete. Nothing shows in programs, and I don't HAVE a current
CD to uninstall THRU. THAT kind of had me curious..why would I be
uninstalling a current program that worked?..So I am still stuck. I even
checked the old program on CD but no uninstall there. So it would seem
unless they come up with real solution my old HP will be on the nonuseable
heap.

Problem she has is that HP won't supply the drivers, cause its
XP, and XP has the drivers built-in for her printer... one of
the things I don't like about the HP website driver support.

Frankly if it were me, I would go to HP site and use their
contact form for tech support and tell them to email me back
with a zipped up driver file for my printer and tell them
something is corrupted in XP. I would give the serial number
of my HP Printer.

The next step if they said "No" would be to request the name of
their CEO and her email address. One thing I know as a former
Revenue Officer with IRS -- the taxpayer who wrote the
President or their Congress Representatives -- always got a
quick response :-)
