I'm sorry to hear you're going through all this, Don. Vista can be made much easier to handle with a few select tweaks, but HP is the one responsible for making sure a system is fullly functional before it leaves the factory. While it's a lot to ask of a major manufacturer, the internet connection abilities (including networking) has become a major feature of any OS today and should, therefore, be tested before the unit is shipped. My blame would be laid much more on the maker than the OS.
