Don,
With your Desktop, go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections.
Locate your internet connection and right click > Properties. When the prop
sheet comes up, check both boxes at the very bottom of the General tab.
This will cause an internet/network connection icon to appear in your
Notification area that will let you get to all of the major funtions VERY
quickly when needed. It'll also show you the communication between your
system and the outside world at a glance.

If you find you have to jump through any more hoops than that to get
there, Right click on Start > Properties. On the Start Menu tab, click on
the Customize button across from "Start menu" near the bottom. click on the
Advanced tab and then check the radio button to make Control Panel 'Display
as a menu'. You will then be able to get to everything much easier than the
default mode.

You might want to check out the rest of the options in there, too. Among
other things, I tweak this area extensively on every personal XP build to
make my Start Menu much more powerful than the default.

FM, huh? It's got a nice 'ring' to it. lol

Peace,
Gman
