I tried a panda free scan and before it even got downloaded Avast came up with 
a supposed virus that was trying to download. hmmmmmm.

    It sounds like they converted to a paid scan like so many others.  I think 
  if I'm going to be recommending their scan to others, I'm going to have to 
  go and run it myself and make sure they haven't changed what it used to be. 
  I'm also now curious as to whether they give too many false positives.  I 
  know how to identify and eradicate most malware, so I think I'd also be able 
  to tell if they're giving me bad info.

      I'll keep you informed of the results and recant my recommendation if
