The online storage sites are good for a third line of backup. I have local backups here, and a third copy online somewhere. Always good should we get hit with an unfortunate fire. And, as mentioned, either don't store sensitive data, or if you do have it password protected, or better, encrypted. I use TrueCrypt, which provides FREE yet HEAVY and SOLID encryption. http://www.truecrypt.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ SirTroth ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ ICQ: 1717439 ~ YAHOO: SirTroth ~ SKYPE: SirTroth ~ XFIRE: SirTroth ~ AIM/AOL: SirTrothX ~ http://ut2004.sirtroth.com ~ MSN: SirTroth@xxxxxxxxxxx (For MSN Chat) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -----Original Message----- From: pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mike the mod Sent: Thursday, September 11, 2008 8:48 PM To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Free Online Storage Hello Judith, yes I also fear on line storage. If you are going to save information on line use an encryption program I use an online storage for my 6 gig of 'tech tips' I have accumulated over the years. I also have many of the down loaded installer packages of various programs along with a text file containing any key and installation notes. For keys I use a substitution code for example my alphabet starts with the 13th letter of the alphabet: M = A N = B and so on. My grandfather used the tic tac toe grid for hiding the cost he paid of items in his store: _| = 1 |_| = 2 |_ = 3 and so on IHTH Mike one of the mods ******* REPLY SEPARATOR ********* On 9/11/2008 at 4:24 PM Judith/agoodread.com wrote: Doesn't anybody else here have a problem with having their information stored somewhere else and then having that place bite the dust or worse, use the information?
