Sandi,
    The idea is to have a separate copy of ALL of the fonts that have ever 
been available to you, even if you later choose to remove (or not reinstall) 
the app that gave them to you.  This certainly includes the Windows 
operating system.

    For one thing, newer versions of Windows occasionally bring new versions 
of your system fonts.  If you decide for whatever reason that you're not all 
that happy with an 'improved' version, you will still have a copy of the 
older one you can use instead.  Plus, a font is nothing more than a file and 
can experience corruption damage.  You would easily be able to Copy your 
copy of the offending font (from the Xtra folder) back into the Windows Font 
folder (overwriting the corrupted one) and be 'back at it' like nothing 
happened.            :O)
