There may be a piece of malware trying to access here email folders to 
harvest email addresses.  Have her run scans with Ad-A-Aware and Spybot and 
also run a scan with her Anti-virus program.

If that doesn't fix it, she shouyld try booting to safe mode and try to 
compact there.
