Gateway is not very helpful about how to open the case to replace a battery, perhaps if you follow your part number for your notebook you can find it---- Do they still have the newsgroups for Gateway products? My first computer was a Gateway and I learned a lot from those newsgroups. I know about the PC's but not laptops.
