Rick,
Did you try turning off the "Certify e-mail" part of AVG as suggested in
that thread link I sent in? If not, here are the steps.
"Go into AVG, open "Email Scanner" click "Configure" and uncheck the
"Certify Mail" box under both Incoming & Outgoing Email Scanning"
