Thanks for the reply David... Was beginning to wonder if any one was still out there.. Your msg sounds like your saying that you invite spyware onto your system??? Or is it that you have a automatic system to nuke out spyware installed and you are not needing to run a program?? I will give that one a try..? ----- Original Message ----- From: David Emery To: pcductape@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, November 05, 2004 6:31 AM Subject: [pcductape] Re: avg 6 ending support Trapper: I work on a lot of machines and do not run a program (on purpose) to stop spyware, however, I have that Adawarese works well and once pop ups start then update and run adaware and it does a good job on removing the spyware. I don't know if it's just my imagination or what, but as of late I don't get to many replies back. I ask and ask, but no responses. Perhaps they just are not reading my emails anymore..Got tired of me I guess! I am sure it is not because they don't know..Too many smart folks on here for that. If I ever get any where with this I will for sure let you know what I end up with. I have switched over to the antivir also. Think it was Pam who first let me onto this one. Are you happy with Earthlink? I get my Isp for free, so that is the only reason I have stayed put over the years. ----- Original Message ----- From: bill wingler To: pcductape@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, November 04, 2004 7:48 PM Subject: [pcductape] Re: avg 6 ending support Trapper, Earthlink pretty well takes care of all the spam, popups, etc. for me, so antivirus is just about the only free program I use any more. I've used AntiVir and it works well. AVG was my choice, though, because it updated quicker and before broadband became available to me that was important. But when AVG support goes away, I'll go back to AntiVir if it remains free. Let me know what programs you come up with for that list. There might be some I could use.... OH well fun while it lasted... Did you get my note about asking everyone for a list of possible programs they use for anti-virus, ads, spam etc...Looking to compile a list of the best freebies out there and then use them on my machine.. ----- Original Message ----- From: bill wingler To: pcductape@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, November 04, 2004 1:41 PM Subject: [pcductape] Re: avg 6 ending support Sounds to me like the free version is coming to an end. They're now wanting us to go to the purchased 7.0 version. There is still AntiVir at http://www.free-av.com/index.htm Bill ----- Original Message ----- From: trapper To: pcductape@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: 11/3/2004 9:31:23 PM Subject: [pcductape] Re: avg 6 ending support The upgrade has got me confused... I have the one that we all at one time or another "DL" from the internet and they sent us a Password.. It was a freebie...Are they now telling us that this one is no longer any good? OR does all this only apply to the one that is purchased?? ----- Original Message ----- From: DGrell7446@xxxxxxx To: pcductape@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, November 03, 2004 11:48 AM Subject: [pcductape] avg 6 ending support Hi folks A must read for all who use AVG anti virus software http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6132-0.html?forumID=32&threadID=42477&messageID=497927 Lets all switch to Linux, alot less virus's, etc. .... hehe HTH De
