NY1 has a new piece this morning on pedestrian deaths at certain crossings. All of the crossing were at wide boulevards like Atlantic Ave, Queens Boulevard, etc. The reporter completed the piece by noting that pedestrian deaths were now at their lowest level ever, noting countdown signals and shorter crossing lengths because of pedestrian islands. Then on the screen, in an act of cruel irony, they show the pedestrian island at 9th Ave. and 23rd Street, where there are no detectable warning surfaces and no way for us to know the island is there. Enjoy the great weather. Gene Dr. Eugene A Bourquin _____________________________ DHA, COMS, CI & CT, CLVT Support deafblind children in Guatemala!
