[pasmembers] Vote needed to spend $12/month on Social Media advertising

Good afternoon PAS Members,
PAS has started a SIG for Social Media. I have two wonderful PAS members
taking positions as
1) Twitter - Alex Vrenios
and
2) Meet Up - Howard Moneta
For Twitter, there is no cost involved, just a little time now and then to
post things to Twitter and draw in more people to join in the fun.
For Meet up, there is a fee, which I think is about $12 a month. So, we
need to vote if we want to use Meet UP to advertise our Public events such
as BMC, Mike's, the Telescope Workshops both at PVCC and Bookmans and other
Public events we set up.
I wanted to call a meeting to do this, but I decided we can do it by email.
The active members are on this list. So, if you received this email, I'm
asking for your vote. Should PAS spend $12 a month to maintain a Meet Up
account, and advertise public events through it?
Just a simple reply to this email of
"Yes" you approve of spending the monies, and we can try this for a year to
see how it goes...
or
"NO" you don't approve.
I will then take those votes and decide from there how we will manage the
fee. Someone has to put it on a credit card, I'm sure, and then get
reimbursed from the PAS Treasury, or someone can donate it to PAS by
putting it on their credit card, creating the account and having Howard
manage the PAS Meet Up account for PAS.
Give me your input. And your vote.
I will put a deadline of next Friday June 20 to receive all votes.

Before you vote, let's look at how this has worked for Yves. Yves
originally told me that PAS members (only) were invited to his events. The
last set of events he had, he did it through Meet UP, and what was cool
about that, was that there were proabably 30 to 50 in attendance, of people
we didnt' know, attending his event. Now you have to keep in mind that his
initial events involved him feeding everyone who attended. Then, he cut
back on the food and made it star party only, without potluck. I didn't
hear how those went, but PAS isn't going to provide food, unless it is
brought in by everyone as a potluck. But what we have to offer should be
enough to draw people in. Who doesn't want to Meet UP for looking through
telescopes?
Then we have the question of if Mike wants the public at his public events,
and I mean a lot of public. 50 additional people might overflow the
parking. But it would be an exciting event.
So, think this over before you make your vote, and then get that vote to me
by next Friday. Then, if you want to do the credit card thing, you can. Or
maybe you want to donate the funds to PAS, by covering the $12 a month for
PAS to use a Meet up account. Let me know.
The vote is whether you approve PAS to do this monthly service, or not. But
if someone offers to cover the cost, 12 x 12 is $144 for the year, then the
vote is canceled.
So, let me know what your vote is.
