Thanks for the info on the transit!! I will try and set up a scope here in
Portland for students and staff at the college IFFFFFF it is sunny and
clear! Maybe yes, maybe no.....we'll see.

I can probably attend that morning with PAS table and handouts.
If William can get time off work, he can attend, but that may not be
possible.
He used up most of his vacation days doing the Lumi events.

am May 9th, and the transit starts a little before that (around 4:15 am). I
suggest we arrive at PVCC at 7 am and set up and begin showing at 7:30 am.
That gives the sun 2 hours to clear any buildings. Also, the first classes
begin at 8 am so that students can view the sun and mercury on their way to
their classes. This also gives the public a chance to view on their way to
work. The transit ends a little before noon (11:42 am), so I suggest we
keep the telescopes up until 12:15 pm so students can view the sun, even
without mercury, at the start of their lunch break. We should send out a
press release for the general public and for PVCC students and faculty and
staff.
If we end up with a lot of PAS scopes then we may want to expand and also
do Bookmans at the same time.
