Good morning PAS Members,
I'll be getting these shows listed to the site shortly but wanted to be
sure you saw what shows were coming up, and when, so that you can put them
on your calendar.
Have a super day!
Many thanks to Ron for hosting and providing these fantastic shows.
Remember that RSVP goes directly to Ron for these events at the thestarbarn
July is upon us and hard to believe that the year is half over. While we
have made it through the hottest dry month we now face the two humid
months. With that humidity comes the clouds and bad seeing. The nice
thing is it is always cool and clear in the planetarium. If you have been
watching the skies you might have noticed a plethora of planets in an arc
across the the southern sky. This is the perfect time to see Venus,
Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars. Mars is a special delight in that it will be
closest to the Earth since 2003 and to get closer then that you will need
to wait until 2287. Even to see it as good as this month you will need to
wait until 2050.
Now it does get close to us every 26 months or so but not this close, but
it's not going to be as big as the Moon either. Want to know more come to
this months programs.
Intro to the night sky and what's up will run on:
July 4th at 1 pm.
July 7th at 1 and 3 pm.
July 14th at 1 and 3 pm.
July 21st at 1 and 3 pm.
There will be a very special program on the 31st. Since Mars will be in
opposition, having a program about "The Angry Red Planet" seemed apropos.
This later evening program will be followed by actual viewing the planets
through telescopes. This special presentation will start at 7 pm. Please
RSVP early as we expect it to fill quickly.
For those that have asked, Katie's second book in her "OtherWorlds" trilogy
"The Found" is now available.
As usual, please RSVP for the show(s) requested with time, date, and number
If you need directions, tell me approximately where you are starting from,
send detailed driving directions.
*Please also remember that "The Star Barn" is a "primitive" *
*location without bathroom facilities. Please plan accordingly.*
Also if you no longer wish to receive these updates, just return an
"delete" in the subject line and you will be banished forever.
Also if you reserve seats for a show and can't make it, please cancel at
the day before and if you want seats please also decide at least by the day
It is no fun setting up for a show and then having no one come. On the
shows I spend time in the dome doing set up prep so don't have time to
for last minute requests.
A final also, please be on time as opening the door after everyone is dark
is really hard on the eyes. Once a show starts, no one will be admitted.
A final, final, follow the red arrows for parking.
I hope you enjoy the shows.
