Well, it has been long time since we have been riding on a Thursday night! I
miss the camadarie and fun we all had together. Always happy to ride and
looking to check out new outdoor dining options. Also let’s stay tuned and see
what does pop up at Paradise the patio will still be there.
Meanwhile, i would love some tech advise something we might have discussed
while riding or maybe after a few Guinness at the Pressroom.. My firm has
been operating in the lightly staffed partially remote world with our Naz
Server in the office and Remote PC giving staff access from home. We still are
around 10 staff total sometimes up to 12 so it is a small office set up.
My question has been prompted by the remote work access and also by the fact
that the Netgear Ready Nas that I have operating has been faithfully backing up
via a Proprietary Program called “Replicate” that Neatgear has been supporting
but will discontinue supporting on October 31st.
I also have Synology Ready Was that I use as back up but the Netgear has been
the one I relied on as I have a parallel set up backing up off site.
My question is three part:
1) Does any one have a recommendation for referring a local tech company that
I could hire to organize my IT set up utilizing the equipment I have Netgear
and Synology. The rest of the office is mostly Windows 10 PC Workstations
with a few MACs.
2) Does it make sense to migrate to a Window Server such as a Dell Power Edge
T440 in place of the Nas.
3) Does anyone have experience with a Cloud Based server instead of a bricks
and mortar server in the office. One company that I know has been used in the
architecture and engineering industry is EGNYTE. I
So really the big question is if it makes sense for me to move our server to
the cloud and what are the best options. Or is it better to have a bricks and
mortar server with VPN Access.
I look forward to any references and incite that you can share.
