The school district should be asked why they are not following the Northwest Accreditation Standards. These are the guidelines by which colleges measure the quality of a high school. They require one full time certificated Librarian at the high school level, plus support staff for schools over 500. The standards were written to serve as a measurement of quality, and I think also they serve to hold administrators accountable for the decisions made. The district has announced that there will be no teacher cuts, but the elementary Librarian position is a teacher cut, and assigning the high school Librarian to teach a class is a teacher cut in the Library! The public and parents need to ask why the administration did not follow NW Accreditation Standards. Why don't the students of PAHS and our elementary schools deserve to meet the standards of a quality school? Pam Walton
