Wow Jules, how awesome. I love the sound of the couscous, and the halved red
peppers are such a great touch.
I’ve made shawarma once and thought it lacked flavour… have a few recipes that
I tell myself I’ll try another time, but when ‘another time’ comes I always
think, oh, I remember I wasn’t enraptured with that before, will go with
something I know I’ll like rather than trying a new version of something I
thought was meh’ and so have never made it again!

Had shawarma for dinner tonight. Had never heard of it before and saw it
when in Sainsbury’s so I have cheated. It was tasty though lacked Middle
Eastern flavours. Next time will make my own. Served with homemade couscous
which I tossed with lightly sautéed red pepper and courgette/zucchini,
garlic, lemon zest and juice. Dry roasted cumin seeds and added the couscous
mixture to heat through and stirred in fresh parsley. Also homemade raita.
Was all very tasty abd something different.
Served with red peppers filled with halved baby plum tomatoes, garlic,
anchovies and fresh basil. An old Delia recipe.
