Hi Hal and all,
I won’t go into the stress and drama getting back to Spain except getting the
requisite docs which was truly a nightmare. A PCR test in Liverpool, getting
the QR code online which disappeared before I could complete and is mandatory
to enter. Finally got it. First flight ex Manchester in weeks so was about
60 or more pax on board. Get to Alicante after no inflight service and heaven
forbid if you needed to go to the loo. Waited ages for the policia to check
my passport and proof of residencia and got a cursory glance and he said ok
and swaggered off in Spanish macho style. Meanwhile 15 other pax got denied
entry with insufficient docs so we all had to wait ages to get our bags till
they found the 15 pax bags who were being sent back.
Back home...no WiFi and car dead..,,stuck in my house ....managed to get a
message through to La Sorpresa and they delivered me the most amazing chicken
satay, chips and pineapple. Jos and Sandra are Dutch so there is an
Indonesian influence. Google La Sorpresa Turre.
Car finally sorted with new battery..hit and run on Mercadona...Estela will
relate..plastic gloves on so a nightmare trying to open plastic bags to put
veg. etc. Bought lots of salmon and merluza...fish here far more expensive
than UK🤔
Food wise again I went to go meet up with a fave place for tapas and ice
cream...chicken wings to die for .
Then I went to our local Super Turre to get cat food having been reunited
with Basil and Felix ...OMG I was greeted with so much love and hugs ...it
would never happen elsewhere. The staff were all saying Julia...,we have
missed you. It made me cry.
Where I live people walk by walking dogs etc, and so many have said nice to
see you back etc,...,me in my limited Spanish.
Sorry this is not really food related but we have all been friends for years.
In these horrendous times it is nice to reach out and share. I really am
overwhelmed by the kindness and friendliness of the Spanish.
Hugs to all
Julia x

Oh please send that corned beef to me. One of my fave meals not had in
yonks. In England corned beef is something what I tell Geoffrey looks like
canned dog food, maybe akin to Spam..not spam techie 🤔😜🤣 I will not eat it.
G loves corned beef hash..better Google that Kelly😜. In the UK corned beef
is called salt beef but I never see it and a corned beef and tomato’s
sandwich was a fave.
I used to cook corned beef aka silverside in my pressure cooker but that was
many years ago.
Am back in Spain. Phew what a Covid travel nightmare, post to follow later.
Stay safe all.
