First post was rejected as too big so here is tonight’s green curry.

Hi Kelly, Vicki and all.
We too shut down here in Southport, Merseyside, not far from Liverpool.
Nothing open except for essentials I.e. supermarkets which are dangerous as
some people do not believe in social distancing. Now we have the new mutant,
the South African one discovered in several areas of the UK and oddly enough
Southpoer in a postcode area near us is one which is being advised to get
tested and door to door drop offs of testing kits are being delivered. Any
flight I have booked to get back to Spain to take care of financial stuff and
retrieve our cats have been cancelled. It is all a nightmare but beyond our
control.
So thrilled for you Vicki that you will be able to go to Gemma’s wedding. Pity
about your migraines but seriously, could be stress related.
I have never read so many Kindle books in my life and my iPad is getting a real
workout.
Been doing a bit more cooking and tonight made
a Thai green curry. Due lockdown have been doing a lot of online shopping and
bought Mae Ploy pastes from Amazon. Usually do red curry so this was my first
attempt and was so tasty. Not really authentic as added more veggies than what
is the norm but I do like my 5 a day.
Night before made a lamb tagine which was also tasty. Now have a variety of
leftovers but not sure if breakfast food.
Stay safe
Jules

Hi Kelly,
We are fine thank you! It’s been a super stressful time lately, both with work
and trying to figure out how we could get into Western Australia (WA) for my
daughter’s wedding, which is in 4 weeks. Living as we do in the Stupid State
that is very careless about covid measures, WA’s borders have been shut to us.
A couple of weeks ago they relaxed the border to allow us in subject to 14 days
quarantine, so I was trying to figure out how I could make that happen. Despite
getting instant and enthusiastic support from management to work remotely from
Perth, teeing up a place in which to quarantine turned into a real drama.
Anyway, long story short, we’re here in Perth, in Dohn’s mum’s house. Such a
relief. The Stupid State can do what it wants now but we’re here and won’t miss
the wedding if they get stupider. Perth was in a 5-day hard lockdown when we
arrived on Tuesday, after a hotel quarantine worker tested positive with the UK
covid variant, but it made no difference to us, as we can’t leave the house
anyway. (A bit of a shock to Perth folks, though, after living 10 months covid
free.)
I miss my kitchen and my pantry… I’m not doing any real cooking. Not that I’ve
felt like it. Have had migraines every single day since we arrived, not sure
what’s up with that but it’s been miserable. And work continues to be super
busy and stressful.
Hmm reading back over this, perhaps we are not fine… but we’re in Perth and
that’s what counts!
Vicki. :-)

Hi Kelly,
Yes events and festivals in Australia have been cancelled too. It’s very sad
for everyone, but almost all agree it’s necessary.
I had a look at a couple of the links you sent. I love both ideas. The houses
are incredible. It looks like it will be a fabulous celebration, just
different, and as someone said in the first link about the parade, ‘While it’s
much different from the way New Orleans is used to celebrating, it’s making
more memories than you think.’
Good stuff!
Vicki. :-)

It’s gotten a bit quiet lately...
Hoping everyone is ok.
Ugh, I’m bummed that there is no Mardi Gras this year...
They’re so scared of people gathering here, all next weekend, ALL bars in New
Orleans are ordered closed, even the ones that had been converted to
restaurants, etc.
I understand the concern, but also, these businesses that are able to still be
open won’t last long...they’ve been serving outdoors an to go, and now they’re
even shutting that down.
One thing that is cool is that since we can’t have parades and floats...they
have taken the biggest and most spectacular lighted and animated floats from
various parades, and set them up along the various routes through City Park,
and in the evenings, are having a guided drive through for families in their
cars to see them, and spaced out I believe they have some bands and dance
teams, performing, socially distanced, etc.
It’s especially for the kids..,but no throws.
:(
And a lot of homes all over the area are decorating the exteriors like Mardi
Gras floats, really cool stuff.
New Orleans always finds a way, I love this place.
