Dear Julia, thank you for your sweet and entertaining message. I think there
may be many others here spending Christmas alone.
Those of you able to be with family or friends, be grateful for that, and enjoy
being together.
Best holiday wishes to everyone...stay safe and well,
Estela

Estela, although you will be alone over Christmas you sort of won’t because we
will be thinking of you.
Not sure if I will get to Spain as they might stop anyone coming in like
Holland, Belgium, Ireland etc. already have.
Geoffrey’s son works in London so in tier 4 but has driven up north today but
we have asked him not to visit as we in tier 2. He said that main railway
stations were heaving with people travelling north bringing the Wuhans with
them, Such selfishness when so many adhering to restrictions. Now all the
whinging moaners are blaming Boris because he has cancelled Christmas!
On a food note, our excitement today was going to a fairly new Aldi near us.
Never been before so I was like a kid in a candy store chucking things in my
trolley.😜 Luxury mince pies, chocolate florentines, and two mangoes to make the
salsa to go with the Thai gravlax I intend to make.
Stay safe, cover, wash and distance. Wish all would.

Hi Julia and everyone, my dear friends...many of you whom I've known for
twenty years. I've never had to spend Christmas alone before, I guess it's no
big deal. I'm trying not to take refuge in food, plenty of writing to get done
and tele-conferences to prepare.
Unfortunately, many people here have decided to ignore rules and
recommendations. I can't imagine what it's going to be like after the
holidays, which in Spain do not conclude until January 6, Three Kings day (Wise
Men) when gifts are exchanged. That's an extra week of potentially dangerous
activity.
I still go to the gym every day...no one there except me and the 24-hour
sanitation crew, probably the safest place in town. Today, however, it's
beautiful and sunny, so I'll do my circle route on the bicycle...again, no
people out, so the bike path belongs to me.
Numbers here are rising "vertically" as they're saying on the news, and the new
strain of covid in GB is depressing, but only natural...the virus is
self-selecting so the strongest survive.
Paraphrasing the title of the movie: all this and diabetes two.
Sending hugs to everyone,
Estela

Hi all,
You all know how I and many others love M&S..this made me quite emotional in
these so difficult times and it is now getting worse with Christmas virtually
cancelled in London and the south east going into a new tier, Tier 4. The new
strain of the Wuhans has risen dramatically out of control and poor Boris has
had to make the difficult decision in the best of interests of the
people.,forget politics, he is doing his best on top of the soon to be Brexit.
What a nightmare.
I just feel so sorry for the hospitality industry with all restaurants closed
etc. travel industry wrecked etc.
Got to keep smiling and cooking when we can, which is very therapeutic 😜
Only the two of us for Christmas dinner so thank you M&S😜. I will be thinking
of Kelly, Estela and who else is back and alone but better to be safe ❤️
Julia aka Jules
Merry Christmas to all xx
