Well, so far as I’ve heard.
The good news about the new strain in the UK is that….while it IS a bit more
virulent and spreads faster, it does not at this time, appear to be more
dangerous or deadly than the standard strains we’ve been seeing.
I read one article awhile back, that was interesting, that often with
viruses…they do mutate, of course, but they often do it to best allow them to
continue.
They often do get easier to spread and catch, BUT, they also often become less
damaging and fatal overtime, as that by killing their host, they lose the
ability to spread and continue to exist.
So, while I don’t say that is what is happening here, IMHO, it could be a first
step mutation towards something like that…..the easier spread part.
Anyway, just some random thoughts.

They have their call centre in South Africa so am always speaking to
Capetown. The agent said the new strain was bad there too and they are all
living in fear of their lives and jobs as working from their office.

Hang in there, Julia.
It is looking rather grim right for the UK now, but we must hope for the
best.
Early commentary suggests that the existing vaccines will address
this new strain of virus, so that may be the only way forward for the UK.
Hoping that your cats will be able to get out of the cattery and into your
arms soon.
