Hi Chris,
We had takeaway from there for lunch today. Dohn ordered a slice of cheese
burek, to be told they’d sold out. Boo. I wanted to see what his was like
before ordering it myself. It didn’t come with any sides and I wanted to see if
it was enough for a full meal. I suspected it would need a salad add-on but
Dohn was only going to get chips ha ha. I had cevapi (which I’ve had before).
It came with a side of shredded cabbage salad, pickled peppers (the baby
capsicum sort) and ajvar (which I’ve also had before). It was all very
delicious. I love this type of food. We’ll be buying from there again. :-)
Vicki. :-)

If that Balkan cafe has Cevapcici and Ajvar be sure to try them.
Cevaps are little skinless sausage patties made with a mix of beef,
pork and lamb with garlic and paprika. Sometimes a little cayenne too.
Ajvar is a relish made from Red capsicums and Eggplants. Delicious.

Yum! I’ve not seen them in a pie-like form before, only as coiled
sausage-like things. Would be a lot less fussy to make like that! I’ve just
discovered a Balkan cafe near me and am anxious to check it out. Maybe they
do burek! 🤔

Hi Everyone
From the recent Burek thread – we shared this Macedonian Burek for breakfast
– this one had a generous cheese filling somewhere between Feta and Ricotta.
Quite dense and filling but delicious.
Cheers
