Sorry I missed the meeting but I'm definitely onboard for the tiny house
project as well as a response to potential Otis Forest action. Please add
me to the working group.
With regard to the latter I've been attempting to get specific info on
whether the hemlock old-growth is in the path of the proposed cutting. Rep.
William 'Smitty' Pignatelli claimed the stand would be affected in a news
story but has not responded to my query as to data. On the other hand, I
read that forester Joe Zorzin thinks the old-growth, being near the Cold
River, probably would not be impacted. Still trying to get solid info and
will let everyone know ASAP.

*1. Otis Park *
The court date on 3/31 is to override article 97
If they get the go ahead, what do we do?
Locals will contact us immediately if cutting proceeds.
Are old-growth trees being threatened? Need to do fact-finding.
Decided: A working group will visit site with locals and report back at
our next meeting.
We need to be ready to resist cutting in multiple locations in/around
Sandisfield.
Mobilizing must raise the profile of resistance and bring more support to
our cause.
Decided: If they're able to get the green light to cut, we mobilize.
(more details to be determined at our next meeting)
*2. Mobilizing mechanisms*
Decided: As one tool for mobilizing, OtP will use the text loop service
offered by Bubble Tank Affinity Group. This will allow everyone to receive
an emergency alert via text if/when a mobilization is necessary. (detailed
directions for how to subscribe to the service forthcoming)
Decided: At their next meeting, find out how the SugarShack Alliance
Pledge of Resistance is going to be used, if it will be used to mobilize
rapid response, if we (OtP) can promote it, and under which conditions it
will be used if/when affinity groups call for action.
*3. Tiny House in Warwick*
We have been invited by Mary W. to build a tiny structure on her land in
Warwick, which is in the pathway of the pipeline, to be used for
occupation/protest.
The tiny structure idea has some momentum in the media, something we'd
want to build upon.
April 9th/10th is the landowner's (Mary W.) only available weekend for
the next couple of months.
This may be too soon to pull together the necessary resources.
Decided: Alistair (a carpenter) will visit the site with Mary W. over the
next week, assess material and personpower needs, and come back to the
group via email with his assessment.
Decided: We will hold off on promoting the April 9/10 build date until we
know more about what it will take. This may require a decision to be made
via email (as we are not planning to meet until April 13th).
Note: Alistair will assess, but is unable to bottomline the project. We
will need someone (with appropriate experience) to take this project on.
*4. Upcoming SugarShack Alliance meeting: April 3rd *
We have reports that SSA is only allowing 1 member of a given group to
attend their next meeting (April 3rd, 1p at Green Fields Market). We are
trying to get clarification.
Decided: OtP will send at least 1 representative to attend on our behalf
and report our decision regarding Otis, to find out how/if the Pledge of
Resistance will work and how we can collaborate on the rapid response
organizing.
*5. Next OtP meeting*
Decided: We will return to a regular biweekly schedule on WEDNESDAYS. Next
meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 13, 6:30p – 8:00pm. Location
tentatively scheduled for Guiding Star Grange, 401 Chapman St, Greenfield.
