Sounds like a great training.

I'm hoping to also help us set up a more in-depth training and STRATEGY
SESSION to help us develop a shared campaign strategy, building off what
has worked in other regions in similar fights.

*WHAT YOU CAN DO:*

1) Sign up for *Non-Violent Direct Action Training* on* April 9th* here at
the Grammar School. Many of your neighbors have registered, and we hope
to have more. There will be a training in Brattleboro soon, and Amherst had
one last weekend with 70 people attending.

* NON-VIOLENT DIRECT ACTION TRAINING *

* SATURDAY APRIL 9th*

*        9:30 TO 6 at the CONWAY GRAMMAR SCHOOL *

* TO PREPARE FOR ACTIONS TO STOP THE PROPOSED KINDER-MORGAN NED PIPELINE*

Part 1 - This training will help prepare you to decide if you want to join
an Affinity

Group and/or be part of a future Civil Disobedience action (including
participating

in a support role, peacekeeper role, and not risking arrest) We will cover
the

principles of non-violence and how they are employed in an action, even in
actions

that do not include intentionally breaking the law (i.e., rally, vigil
etc.). You will learn

what makes an action non-violent and effective, and practice consensus
decision-

making (briefly) as well as quick decision-making. We will build community

in the process. We won't be planning a specific action at this training.
We will

be helping you to think about next steps, and offering some organizing
tips.

Part 2 -  Will focus on the legal aspects of civil disobedience, potential

consequences, the scenario of a potential planned action, deeper personal

introspection on why you might choose to risk arrest and a long role play.

The role-play will cover the  whole process from protesters entering the
site

of the action through arrest and arraignment. You will have the
opportunity to

form or join affinity groups for those not already in one.

IF you are already in an affinity group and have taken part in a mass
demonstration

that included civil disobedience in the past 5 years, you can come for
just part

two although you are welcome to come all day.

Taking part in the training does not obligate you in any way to be part of
an action.

That decision is up to you.

We will begin and end on time.
