Hope we're all on this list by now.
In a phone call this morning, my friend Lee Youngblood said her organization,
Mt. Grace Land Conservation Trust, would be very tolerant of the presence of
"little houses" and people on conservation land it oversees. She mentioned that
a Northfield man named Sam Richardson already has a hikers' hut on land he
owns, and said he'd "feed and, if necessary, clothe" people helping stop the
pipeline on his land. She felt confident that the Town of Northfield would
happily tolerate the sort of strategies we talked about in our meeting last
Wednesday, particularly on its parcel right near the proposed compressor
station. She mentioned a woman in Warwick named Mary Wall, a strong opponent of
the pipeline, whose property has to be surveyed for vernal pools, and suggested
people be in contact with her.
Finally, Lee said there's a very detailed map available at the
nofrackedgasinmass.org site, in connection with the K-M application materials.
I haven't looked at it yet, but it's apparently under Resource Report 8 (RR8),
and it allows you to zoom in and get great detail.
Will there be any minutes of our meeting last Wed.? I'm not sure if anyone
committed to approaching the selectboards. We spoke about it in terms of
encouraging police "defense" of landowners, but it's also good in case of any
protest activity on town-owned land, and a general courtesy, etc. If no one has
that task, maybe divide it up -- let us know on this list if you'll approach a
selectboard of a particular town in the path.
