Dear Friends and Family in the Lord: How good and pleasant it is when the brethren dwell together in unity! We are getting a chance to see what a choice that is every day. Dwelling together in unity makes us stronger and helps people see Jesus. For the month of June, the staff of Out of the Box has joined the staff of Maranatha Camp and Conference Center. We received an e-mail update from a friend at this camp which is like a second home to our whole family. They were short several staff members at time to begin their heavy summer season and wanted us to pray that they would find just the right people, so we did. Meanwhile we had been trying for months to figure out why June was still so empty on our Out of the Box calendar. We had thought it was so Tim could finish up a particularly hard class after returning from Mexico. That took two days (Thank you, Jesus!) Now we had a whole month free. What if we filled those positions until it was time to start Family Camp right there at Maranatha in July? Long story, short, here we are. Evan is a lifeguard, Tim is on Recreation staff, Nate works in the kitchen, I work in the dining room and craft shop, and Vic runs sound, fixes stuff, and works in the dining room. We all do whatever else they schedule us for, and have a chance to see what a lot of work it takes to keep a camp clean and running well. Please pray that we will show Jesus and tell of His greatness and provision whenever we have a chance. (There is a lot of time for interaction with campers as we work on crafts, and the opportunity to minister to the young summer staff is awesome. Just being a servant in the dining room has been great for me.) Last week, the camp director was in a position to recommend us for a program at one of the biggest events in the area. Nebraskaland Days is held all over the city but mostly at the Buffalo Bill Wild West Arena here in North Platte, Nebraska, (the site of the very first Rodeo exhibition, arranged by Buffalo Bill, himself.) We had 150 children while their Parents listened to an evangelistic speaker. Many were not from churched homes and were there for the free ice cream social. There were decisions for Christ and we hope there will be follow up for them. Our thanks to the MOPS moms for their help with the kids. What a wonderful opportunity! (We as the camp staff went to the rodeo there on Saturday night. My favorite sport! It was really fun.) The first week we had a group that ministers to abused children. The stories we could tell you would make you cry. It was a wonderful week and the kids didn?t want to leave. This past week was Jr. High week and we had 540 of them. (Nate was a camper.) I enjoyed working in the Craft shop, but the dining room got really zoo-y with over 500 coming through for each meal. Their theme was ?It?s not about Me!? and I found myself reminding me of it often. We?ll write you again soon and let you know how everything is going. Thanks for your prayers. They mean so much to us. Have a great week and God Bless!
