Runners and Walkers,
I know many of you having been training throughout the winter and are signed up
to run the half or full marathon this coming Sunday or the 5K on Saturday
night. As you may know, when you sign up under Team UT-Battelle, we earn
points for the fittest company challenge. We also earn points for
volunteering. The Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon needs over 1200
volunteers to put on this great event promoting health and fitness. There are
many volunteers still needed for the Expo on Saturday and during the race on
Sunday. Runners pick up their shirts and running bibs at the Expo and there
will be many retailers providing free samples, discounts, and opportunities to
learn about new products to make running more comfortable and fun. If you are
able to help, we are need of help doing a variety of tasks both days. Please
go to http://knoxvillemarathon.com/volunteer/ to find volunteer opportunities ;
and to sign up to help. You will get a free shirt and an invitation to a
volunteer banquet. But more importantly, you will be able to help Knoxville
put on a great running event. Please feel free to contact me if you have any
questions about volunteering. Also, it is not too late to sign up to run.
There are distances ranging from the 5K on Saturday to the 4 person relay (each
runner runs about 6.5 miles) to the full 26.2 mile marathon.
Thanks,
Brian
