I’ve been following along today as I worked on my own building site, amazed and
elated at both Maggi & Ed’s good news and the wonderful outpouring of support
from our Original Town Family.
Of course I was shocked at the original news of the rapacious & predatory
foreclosure. But ya know what? After seeing Ed yesterday morning I wasn’t
worried.
If anyone in Original Town has Karma in the bank it’s our dear friend Eddie
Sharp!
I’ve never seen him with a frown on his face or a mean word in his mouth.
Always ready to lend a hand, he shares his good vibes with anyone and everyone
lucky enough to know him or just pass by.
It was a helluva scare at first, but bound to turn out this way, with the right
thing happening after all.
Hurray for all the great work by Maggi and Ed himself, Roland too.
Love ya’s
Ross

Gil, this was such a wise take! We've all lived on our land plenty since the
fire, and have seen each other out there to prove it!
Still celebrating along with all the Sharp's. It's encouraging when the right
thing happens!

Need to share why? You never left that property for a year, you’ve been there
with your garden and well every day, almost!

Hello OT neighbors,
I just saw this disturbing post on the Marshall Fire Slack channel for news.
Ed Sharp's very sweet modular home is in place on its foundation now, so this
news must be such a blow to Ed and his family. Please take a look and let's
brainstorm to see if there is some way we can rally support for Ed.

That beautiful man is my father in law and we have gone through so much with
his rebuild process. He spent last night with us and I told him I was so glad
that he had the attitude that he does. Makes life so much easier. Modular house
should be delivered in a week or so, just jumping through hoops to get there!
Thank you all!

Hey there Janet,
What a nice note you wrote here. It does feel good to see progress around the
Original Town. I keep hoping for enough warm weather for concrete to happen
at my place and have the same hopes for everyone else at that stage. From
there on, things should really take off.
The gentleman you described at 4th & William is Ed Sharp, one of my best
friends in town for as long as we’ve both lived there (only 48 yrs for me). I
loved his wife Ruby who passed about a year before the fire, and his son Roland
still comes over to help out. We sometimes shared help & car parts in our
respective “dream shops” and stories galore with ol Danny too. Yes, he does
have a great attitude & I’m so glad he’s gotten started on his rebuild.
Best to you all,
Ross (& Kathy) Morgan

Subject: [OriginalTown] OT Progress
Hi All,
Since the new year, I am increasingly seeing signs of progress in Original
Town! I did notice, just in the last couple of weeks, all kinds of diggers and
workers seem to be crawling all over Daryl and Bob McCool's and Ross and Kathy
Morgan's properties. There are many more OTers showing progress; I am sorry I
don't know names. Congratulations to all!
If you haven't driven through OT in a while, do take a little tour--it will
make your heart swell with hope for OT renewal. And Sagamore's homes are
popping everywhere like excited, wide-eyed prairie dogs. It is just so good to
see life and love coming back into our community.
About 10 days ago, my pooch Lucy and I for the first time since the fire went
out walking on our circuitous route through open space, Coal Creek Crossing.
and OT, like we used to before the fire. I met a gentleman, age 80, who told
me he had lived on his property at the corner of 4th and Williams (i think it
was) for 50 years. He was watching a couple small diggers beginning work on
his foundation. I didn't get his name, but I told him I remembered walking by
his "retired gentleman's Shangri-La"--with a dream shop for puttering, always a
good garden growing, and cozy little white house with mature trees in the yard.
That was all gone now of course, but I congratulated him on his
ground-breaking, and told him that I was sorry he wouldn't have that same
little Shangri-La that he used to have. He responded by simply saying, "I
can't live in the past; I can only move into the future." What a remarkable
comment from an 80 year old! He still lifts my spirits everytime I think about
him saying that.
The OT email list has gone quiet for a while. Perhaps folks are communicating
in other ways. I do hope everyone is finding their way forward, whatever that
path may be. I only wanted to wish everyone good cheer and hope for a new
fresh start on your next life chapters! My little Lucy pooch and I hope to see
more of you out there this spring and summer!
Warm regards,
Janet Rodina
