Janet I had no idea this was going on and how tragic for Ed! Thank you so
much for including the link to this story. This is so absurd And greedy.
How could he logically live on his property when his home burned down?
Shame on this mortgage company, taking advantage of a horrible situation.

Good evening, OT neighbors~

Like so many of you, I have been rocked by the news of Mr. Ed Sharp - our
neighbor and friend - and the vulgar attempts by his mortgage company to
foreclose. I imagine in many parts of the world, it would be considered
absolutely criminal. It is certainly and absolutely immoral.

I have written several letters tonight, and thought sending along email
addresses might be of use to some of you, should you also wish to write. If
there are others we should consider contacting, please let me know.

This is absolutely VULGAR.

I think reaching out to Joe Neguse and Governor Polis is critical. I
would also contact the VA and any other military organizations (Gil, you
might have suggestions here?) What is Town of Superior saying/doing about
this?

I also think that protesting against the mortgage company - either in
person or with complaint calls - should be something we all prioritize.
It's absolutely disgusting what they are doing. Which mortgage company are
we dealing with here?

Mr. Sharp and Maggie, your community is here to back you up in every way
we can.

Maggi,
Ed needs to come to Marshall ROC and meet with a Recovery Navigator.
There is a state forgivable loans of up to $100000 he can and should apply
for. He is also entitled to $20000 from the Community Foundation for
rebuilding. I know that doesn't cover the full amount but, it's a start.
There are also unmet needs funds available through the Recovery Navigators
as well.

This information is actually for all residents who lost their homes...
and those who also have standing homes. If you do not have a Recovery
Navigator, I urge you to walk into my office at 357 McCaslin Blvd
<https://www.google.com/maps/search/357+McCaslin+Blvd?entry=gmail&source=g>
in Louisville and ask for a navigator. If you have called and emailed and
never heard back, the best way to get assigned a navigator is to walk-in.

I have been mulling this all over in my head for the last week and a
half.  My greatest hope would be that we could just pay off the damned
mortgage and put that company out of our lives forever.  BUT, we would have
to raise at least $250,000.00.   Ruby and Eddie needed the funds from the
reverse mortgage after Ruby could no longer work.  If I had that money,
that's the first thing I would do.  Let me think about this for a few more
days and any and all help is greatly appreciated by Ed, Roland and me.

Kindest regards,
Maggi Sharp

so this news must be such a blow to Ed and his family.  Please take a look

Modular house should be delivered in a week or so, just jumping through

Hey there Janet,

What a nice note you wrote here.  It does feel good to see progress
around the Original Town.   I keep hoping for enough warm weather for
concrete to happen at my place and have the same hopes for everyone else at
that stage.  From there on, things should really take off.

The gentleman you described at 4th & William is Ed Sharp, one of my
best friends in town for as long as we’ve both lived there (only 48 yrs for
me).  I loved his wife Ruby who passed about a year before the fire, and
his son Roland still comes over to help out.  We sometimes shared help &
car parts in our respective “dream shops” and stories galore with ol Danny
too.  Yes, he does have a great attitude & I’m so glad he’s gotten started
on his rebuild.

Best to you all,

Ross (& Kathy) Morgan

Hi All,

Since the new year, I am increasingly seeing signs of progress in
Original Town!  I did notice, just in the last couple of weeks, all kinds
of diggers and workers seem to be crawling all over Daryl and Bob McCool's
and Ross and Kathy Morgan's properties.  There are many more OTers showing
progress; I am sorry I don't know names.  Congratulations to all!

If you haven't driven through OT in a while, do take a little tour--it
will make your heart swell with hope for OT renewal.  And Sagamore's homes
are popping everywhere like excited, wide-eyed prairie dogs.  It is just so
good to see life and love coming back into our community.

About 10 days ago, my pooch Lucy and I for the first time since the
fire went out walking on our circuitous route through open space, Coal
Creek Crossing. and OT, like we used to before the fire.  I met a
gentleman, age 80, who told me he had lived on his property at the corner
of 4th and Williams (i think it was) for 50 years.  He was watching a
couple small diggers beginning work on his foundation.  I didn't get his
name, but I told him I remembered walking by his "retired
gentleman's Shangri-La"--with a dream shop for puttering, always a good
garden growing, and cozy little white house with mature trees in the yard.
That was all gone now of course, but I congratulated him on his
ground-breaking, and told him that I was sorry he wouldn't have that same
little Shangri-La that he used to have.  He responded by simply saying, "I
can't live in the past; I can only move into the future."  What a
remarkable comment from an 80 year old!  He still lifts my spirits
everytime I think about him saying that.

The OT email list has gone quiet for a while.  Perhaps folks are
communicating in other ways.  I do hope everyone is finding their way
forward, whatever that path may be.  I only wanted to wish everyone good
cheer and hope for a new fresh start on your next life chapters!  My little
Lucy pooch and I hope to see more of you out there this spring and summer!

Warm regards,

Janet Rodina
