Ken Maguire and I noticed that we lose sight of our E-stangs when flying low
and out a ways. The planes blends in with the tall trees to the East. So I
thought that I would add some brighter color to my E-stang to add to the
plane’s visibility.
For some years I have used Krylon Short Cuts spray paint on my E-snipes with
good success, no problem on foam.
I picked up a can of SCS-050 Glow Orange, a color that I have not used, and
sprayed my E-stang. Big mistake! I don’t know if Krylon has changed the
propellant or the color formulation but the paint attacked the foam. I
suspect, looking at the foam, that the propellant is the problem.
At least I now have battle scars even before the first race.
