As I mentioned - any installation (including OEM Database Control - 
think "emca de/reconfig") that relies on OC4J is fundamentally 'Network 
Challenged'.  For several years I've been on a soapbox to get people to 
stick a Virtual IP and Virtual Hostname under any OC4J environment, for 
exactly the reason you mention.

In App Server 10g, we have a 'chgipaddr' perl script that knows most of 
the areas to change.  (In AS 10g 10.1.2.3, there are over 80 occurances 
of embeed IP addr or hot name.)  That script works for about 97% of all 
cases in App Server 10g, but I have not attempted to apply that to Grid 
Control, simply because some locations are buried inside the Grid 
Control OMR.

(I'm not convinced Oracle developers understand how network naming 
works, or what network standards are used for - hence the desperate need 
to use Static IP for nearly everything.  But that's a rant for another 
time!)

So, like you, I went for a 12c Fresh Install, rather than an upgrade.  
Since Oracle changed nearly everything going to 12c, including agents, 
plugins, Java EE container, UI, etc.,  it made sense to me to

Gave me an opportunity to compensate for all the sillinesses I'd built 
into the Grid Control based on assumptions.
