You lost me completely. How does ezconnect centralize anything? if
anything it decentralizes everything.

Problem is that tnsnames.ora done properly requires other tools like
versioning system or configuration management tools (chef, puppet,

two ways of having them centralized, one is OID, the other one is

other tools to Oracle with a simple and understandable string, EZCONNECT is
manna from heaven. In this case, of course, heaven is in Redwood Shores,
CA.
