Thanks for the information and clarification questions John.

The database is 9.2.0.6, though it will be upgraded to at least
10.0.2probably next year.

The data itself is basically retreival only. New data comes in once or twice
a year, and changes rarely happen.

The ngdb_code_work2 table has around 1.5 million reacords. all_chemistry has
around 50 million, and ngdb_job only has about 750,000.

However in all_chemistry, there are approximately 7.5 million records with
either no job_id, no lab_id or both.

I'd like to remove those records off to a different table, as they really
serve no purpose. They could be searched and retreived, but there's no easy
way tell what the chemical analysis is for or from where. But, that's a
different issue for a different day.

Thanks.
