Thank you very much for your help, Ron, David, Thomas, Mladen.
When I typed !host, then, my current directory is pointing to another directory.
Talked with our sysadmin and he changed my group perms.
Now, the problem resolved.

Or try to truss sqlplus and see where it is attempting to open the
afiedt.buf file. Alternatively, convince your SA to assign you uid=0.
That way, you'll have no problems with file protection. This is
what I have in mind:
A typical /etc/passwd file entry looks something like this:
rpc:x:32:32:Portmapper RPC user:/:/sbin/nologin
User rpc has uid=32 and group=32. If your SA makes the entry
look like this:
rpc:x:0:32:Portmapper RPC user:/:/sbin/nologin
you will no longer have any problems with file protection. It is customary to
duck
and take cover when you suggest something like this to a system administrator.
