It's not the system tablespace, is it?
Else an alter database datafile xyz offline drop
should do it.
You could also re-create the controlfile and omit the missing datafile.

If it's the system tablespace then you need to create a new database of course.

I know this is a stupid question. I am mainly a developer. I do what is needed as a DBA sometimes. I am using google to solve this. I just needed my database to open. I don't care about losing the tablespace.

On windows
oracle 10.2

I just created the database. It is for development purposes. There is nothing in it I can't afford to lose. I don't have a backup.

I just want to drop the tablespace with the datafile in it.

1. I can mount the database, but can't open it because oracle can't find the datafile
2. i cant drop the tablespace in mounted mode.

I know there is a way to fix this. what do I do? I know I need to somehow drop the tablespace.
