I don't think this is innapropiated, because I want to get opinions about other dbas who runs this utility to run oracle in different environments, like the one I got from From: "Michael Thomas" <mhthomas@xxxxxxxxx> I understand is annoying receiving lots of emails, but this is related to dbas work. For example to test the same script under linux and windows, you are not going to have to computers or have to restart to see what happen in the other platform. I agree, if this wouldn't be related to dba's work this shouldn't be post. But it is, I think the best think any could do, is to block my email and problem solved. :) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Richard" <mrichard@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, March 04, 2004 8:03 PM Subject: Re: run multiple operating systems at the same time on the same physical computer Hi Juan, I know that you mean well by sharing information but this list carries a lot of traffic already and posts such as the one below are unnecessary in my opinion. I say this because (1) it doesn't relate specifically to Oracle, (2) contains no information other than a product overview for a commercial product, (3) is readily available on the internet. Can you please consider the appropriateness of the material you post to the list. I have a lot more work to do than read emails all day and messages such as the one below simply waste time. By and large, list traffic originates as a question and is followed up with answers - rather than a collection of "I saw this and thought someone might be interested", particularly when it has nothing to do with Oracle (the subject of this list). By all means, post information that is relevant and not readily available but don't share your days internet surfing results. Regards, Mark. Switch between virtual machines with the click of a button. Use virtual machines to run legacy applications, provide support, train users, and enhance quality assurance. Virtual PC lets you create separate virtual machines on your Windows® desktop, each of which virtualizes the hardware of a complete physical computer. Use virtual machines to run operating systems such as MS-DOS®, Windows, and OS/2. You can run multiple operating systems at once on a single physical computer and switch between them as easily as switching applications-instantly, with a mouse click. Virtual PC is perfect for any scenario in which you need to support multiple operating systems, whether you use it for tech support, legacy application support, training, or just for consolidating physical computers. Benefits Virtual PC provides a time-saving and cost-saving solution anywhere users must run multiple operating systems. Use Virtual PC in the following scenarios: Ease Migration: Run legacy applications in a virtual machine instead of delaying the deployment of a new operating system just because of application incompatibility. Test your migration plans using virtual machines instead of actual physical computers. Do More in Less Time: Support staff can run multiple operating systems on a single physical computer and switch between them easily. They can also restore virtual machines to their previous state almost instantly. Train students on multiple operating systems and virtual networks instead of purchasing and supporting additional computers. Streamline Deployment: Test software on different operating systems more easily. One crashing application or operating system doesn't affect others. Accelerate Development: Increase quality assurance by testing and documenting your software on multiple operating systems using virtual machines. Decrease time-to-market by reducing reconfiguration time. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe send email to: oracle-l-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put 'unsubscribe' in the subject line. -- Archives are at //www.freelists.org/archives/oracle-l/ FAQ is at //www.freelists.org/help/fom-serve/cache/1.html ----------------------------------------------------------------- <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<---->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Privileged/Confidential information may be contained in this message.
