hmm..this is interesting.

Replicate an index? should you? why would you (i.e. reason)?

Replication concept is basically to replicate data given the same structure
on both sides. Sometimes you might want to replicate DDLs that is the change
that happens on one master to the another. But not to the level of
replicating indexes and sequences? hmm.

I dont think you had looked into "CONFLICT RESOLUTION". Sequences and
primary key values would be the main thing that would hold you from going to
master to master replication. in short, Standby database is your best option
ie. where you just want to failover.

If you are looking at load balancing(between two master to master) then it
is another story....you need to look into lot of options that falls in
HA(high availability) category...

1. clustering
2. log based replication
3. trigger based replication(oracle internal) - Advanced replication
4. transaction based replication.
5. Advanced queuing - queue transaction centrally and pass it to the
masters.
...

There are various other option..that I can go on listing....let me know if
you need more details.
