Not exactly, I guess. If it is automatic management, this does not mean one is secure - increasing SGA_TARGET does not mean that in particular moment there is enough memory in let's say shared pool. The way is to increase minimal setting for SHARED_POOL_SIZE and yes, that could help (and that could be done without increasing SGA_TARGET).
Anyway we just turn it off.
