Ryan, It's been a while since I've read the article, but, if I recall=20 correctly, the major points were: 1.) Increased library cache consumption w/ pub. syns., particularly with a large number of users. 2.) Additional latching and/or serialization due to lots of pub. syns. Both the above points are not the type of thing you'd notice in a single user test or small-scale test. These are the types of things that come up on large systems, when it comes to scalability limits. -Mark -----Original Message----- From: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of ryan gaffuri Sent: Tuesday, September 14, 2004 4:45 PM To: Gogala, Mladen; oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: performance issues with public synonyms? i've read it. i've also tested it. i didn't notice any real difference = in response time... ----- Original Message -----=20 From: "Gogala, Mladen" <Mladen.Gogala@xxxxxxxx> To: <ryan_gaffuri@xxxxxxxxxxx>; <oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, September 14, 2004 4:34 PM Subject: RE: performance issues with public synonyms? > There is a website called Ixora (http://www.ixora.com.au) which > has a search engine.
