Solaris has been Oracle's primary development platform in the past a few times.
If Oracle had owned Solaris a few years ago when it decided to go to Linux as
its Primary platform, the story would have been different.

Quote from the first doc that came up when I googled:

Today, Oracle Database is #1 on Linux with more than 82% market share. Oracle
Applications and Oracle Fusion Middleware continue to build significant
momentum on Linux as well, with more than 30 percent of Oracle 11i applications
and about 50 percent of Oracle Fusion Middleware shipping on Linux last year.

This is from a white paper published by Oracle in August 2011.

Based on the clients I've talked to over the last couple of years, Linux is far
and away the most popular platform. This is born out by the fact that is the
primary development platform for Oracle.
