Ah, I forgot all about that! IIRC, it was somewhat less than intuitive when I
played around with it. But that's probably just me.

Subject: RE: odbc for aix?

I replied to Joe:

Sadly, the gateway is not free. List price for Database Gateway for SQL
Server is $17,500 USD per *computer* (not processor).

Eep! I was thinking more like "free" as in "beer". That's one
expensive drink there!

According to the price lists at
http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/pricing/price-lists/index.html there is no
listing for the Database Gateway for ODBC. Since it's predecessor, Oracle
Generic Connectivity, had its license included in the database, it would seem
like a safe bet that this one Gateway is also included.

Standard "Oracle Corp Licensing is based on quarterly budgets, wind direction,
and loose Biblical interpretations and not actual documentation
-- see your Oracle Salesrep for definitive answers" disclaimer applies.

If I could only find the Collaborate presentation from 3-4 years ago
that described this setup...

I found it. It's from Collaborate session 339 from 2010. It's all about the
previous Generic Connectivity toolset, so I'm not sure how much help it would
be now, but if needed, contact me. If that's in violation of the spirit of
whatever licensing may be associated with these 5yo materials, I'd hope someone
would gently slap my hand via email...
