   Usually management won't let you pick your manager, but may ask for
technical skills evaluation. For example, if you are the only person at your
site who understands Oracle and management expects your new manager to
perform DBA tasks, handle emergencies if you are out, etc., then they may
ask you to talk to a candidate for competence at DBA tasks. If you are asked
to do this, you should be very clear what this person would be expected to
do.
