you need to remove the ';' from the query and add it to the end of the
line as follows :

execute immediate ' select sysdate  from dual'  ;


You also need to have somewhere to store the result as in :

declare
  vResult date;

begin
  execute immediate 'select sysdate from dual' into vResult;
  -- do something with vResult here ...
end;

Note the syntax is slightly different to 'normal' Pl/SQL where you
would SELECT somthing INTO somewhere FROM table WHERE .....
