I'll try to get that info. I know only that the HW vendor tried to solve the
problem but I am not familiar with all the attempts they made.

What OS is the Database server? How is he connected to the filer?
SMB? NFS? If NFS, which transport protocoll: UDP or TCP?
Which NFS version? Do they use DAFS? Or have they tried it?
