I have used Managing & Using MySQL (2nd Edition) by George Reese, et al
from O'Reilly and found it quite useful. But I agree with Johan about
the usefulness of the online docs at mysql.com.

I too have found MySQL to be a leap backward from what I am comfortable
with using Oracle. For example, stored procedures and functions are not
available until version 5.0 and views and triggers are slated for the
5.1 release. Not that the lack of these features is a show stopper, but
it does prove a mild inconvenience at times.

Try the online manual at mysql.com first. It does have user comments on
most topics, which are fairly helpful.

From my humble perspective, it's a giant leap backward, but if it's
forced on you, good luck (that's my current lot in life).
